3/10 of my silver cougars have milk spots. When I bought them, they were in excellent quality!!! Also they turn from white(milk) color to yellowish in a few days. I was told the best way to remove milk spots is to dip the coin in acid and to only do it before you are selling.
HK Kitco is selling cougar without such problem. But the sales in HK is not as good as bear coin.

As you see my blog, my cougars also appeared the same problem. I bought them at HK kitco, same as you, they were shinny on the first day and I place them inside a box (no exposure to light). I used the convex capsule bought at kitco. What kind of capsules are you using? It might be related to the quality of the air in your district. HK is humid the pollution is bad. My friend in Australia said that the silver there was in good condition even after a long time.
Actually I set the post to be publish on a later day, but I guess I did something wrong. I've been doing some research, on Kitco forum it seems that it happen a lot of RCM bullion coins. As for what kind of capsules I use I have no idea. Going to ask when I have time.
ReplyDeleteAs you are staying in US, you have advantage of buying silver from APMEX. Of course not all items are bargain but "America the Beautiful 5oz. Silver Bullion" is bargain for as low as $2.99 per oz over spot.
ReplyDeleteI am actually thinking of buying silver shots... they have the least premium. I think the "America the Beautiful 5oz. Silver Bullion" are beautiful, but I dont want to start another set, I dont know if I could finish it.

As for America the Beautiful i am 15/16, now that you mention it, it might be a good buy. I cant find the mintage, but they are just so beautiful, sadly none of my LCS have them, so probably have to order from apmex. Did you order yours from the group buying last time at Lisa's???
ATS series will be 5 coins per year for 10 years, I dont know if I could afford to buy silver in 10 years time. But now you really got me interested in it.

ReplyDeleteI am not too interest in US culture so I didn't pay attention to it. But as Honson shone the spot night on it and then I noted it as having the low premium, beautiful design and large diameter.
You are really turning into professional and kindle the interest on shots. For me, it will be v difficult to find buyers if I am leasing the shots. Instead, i buy coins for interest and bars for investment. Silver shots sound remote to us.
Recently, my friend bought a 5 oz proof Mexico angel for me while the silver was low. Now, it rises 7% already. But she needs to bring it to me after CNY.
I didnt pay attention to it, until you mention it XD.
ReplyDeleteIsn't selling the shots is as easy as selling bars to Lee Chong? Since they are going to melt it down into their own brand. The shots are actually cheaper than bars, but it is not something one would actually buy or see as an investment.
The Mexican Libertad are beautiful coins, CNY is not too far away, just a few more days. Any chance it is type 1? Those are hard to come by.
